THE PROJECT
The Agro Ericino Footpath Network. Trekking Tourism project comes from the idea of offering a striking experience to mountain, speleology and nature lovers, as well as hiking, trekking and mountain biking enthusiasts. Furthermore, its aim is to enhance and promote all the eco-excellences and agri-food products of this area, as well as to provide to all nature tourism lovers who wish to try this experience sophisticated technological tools, such as georeferenced mappings of the area, immersive experiences and a specific web portal.
Financed by the Regional Office for Tourism and coordinated by the “GAL (LAG: local action group) Elimos”, in collaboration with “CAI Sicilia (Italian Alpine Club) ” and “Associazione Strada del Vino Erice DOC (COD Erice Wine Route)”, the project has marked 110 kilometers of trails, according to the parameters of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club), with the cooperation of all the Agro Ericino municipalities participating in the project: Erice, Buseto Palizzolo, Castellammare del Golfo, Custonaci, San Vito lo Capo and Valderice.
The trails have been tracked in order to enhance a unique environment and landscape and, thanks to the web portal named sicilytrekkingtour.it, to provide to everyone an essential instrument to arrange an unforgettable experience in Western Sicily. Tourist proposals, maps, curiosities, descriptions of the major points of interest, mappings and main events: these are just some of the useful information.
Those who enjoy walking can download all this information free of charge from our website or via e-mail, according to their preferences.
